Our co-founders started Morado Venture Partners with a vision in mind: to help innovators launch winning ventures. When it comes to the consumer Internet sector, Morado’s co-founders have seen just about everything. We’re eager to share the insights and connections our experiences have brought us with Morado portfolio companies.
A Morado co-founder, Ash Patel brings more than 15 years of consumer Internet experience to Morado. A long-time product and engineering leader with Yahoo! Inc., Ash most recently served as the company’s Chief Technology Evangelist. He began his journey with Yahoo! in the early days of the Internet, joining the company’s engineering department in 1996. While at Yahoo!, Ash held a number of positions, including Senior Vice President of Platform Engineering, Chief Product Officer, and Executive Vice President of the Audience Platform Division. In his early days at the company, Ash built My Yahoo!, registration and login platforms, and the back-end infrastructure for Yahoo! Finance. Later he developed the back end for Yahoo! Messenger, eventually building the team that launched the product. Over eight years, Ash grew his engineering team to include approximately 1,500 people. Together, Ash and his team scaled Yahoo!’s infrastructure to handle hundreds of millions of users.
Since leaving Yahoo!, Ash has invested in more than 12 early stage companies. His experiences as an angel investor inspired him to start Morado. With Mike Marquez, Ash reached out to several of his contacts with an idea for a super angel fund that would actively support innovators in the consumer Internet space. Ash and Mike met with an enthusiastic response, and Morado Venture Partners was born.
Ash earned a B.Sc. in Computer Science from Kings College of the University of London.
